Senior Market Researcher

New York
Life at Ideally

Full job description

About Ideally
Ideally is reinventing market research so real human insight can be part of more creative and commercial decisions. Research has traditionally been slow, expensive and difficult to access when decisions need to be made. Ideally changes that. Our AI-powered research platform helps marketers and insights teams get robust consumer feedback quickly, so they can make better, more customer-led decisions.

In just three years, we’ve grown to 250+ clients including Google, Omnicom, Kraft Heinz and Danone across 30+ countries. With teams in Auckland, Sydney, Melbourne and New York, we’re now building the next stage of our growth across APAC and the US.

Why work at Ideally
Research is changing fast, and you'll have the opportunity to help shape what comes next. As part of our growing US team, you'll bring your research expertise into an environment where AI and technology are changing how insights are delivered, while helping establish how we support and grow our customers in one of our most important markets.

You'll work alongside high-calibre, low-ego people across Research, Customer, Sales and Product Engineering, with exposure well beyond a traditional research role. We're building as we go, so you'll have the autonomy to use your judgement, solve interesting problems and make a meaningful impact on how we scale.

About this role
We're looking for a Senior Market Researcher to join our growing New York team, bringing deep research expertise and commercial thinking to help shape how we deliver research and grow our US business.

This isn't traditional agency research. Our AI-powered platform enables research to happen at greater speed and scale, changing how research is delivered and the role our researchers play. You'll work directly with marketers, insights teams and agencies to turn business questions into robust, actionable research and commercial outcomes.

You'll be a trusted research partner throughout the customer journey, bringing credibility to pre-sale conversations, leading research engagements, advising on methodology and interpretation, and helping customers see the value of research in their decisions.

As an early member of our US team, you'll also have the opportunity to help shape how we operate and scale, working closely with Customer, Product and our global Research team to continuously improve our research capabilities, customer experience and platform.

What outcomes you’ll deliver

  • Customers see the commercial value of great research. Build trusted research relationships across our US customer portfolio, understanding the problem behind the brief and helping customers turn research into actionable insights and better business decisions. Partner with Customer to drive ongoing research adoption, repeat usage and long-term customer value.

  • Research quality stays high at pace. Provide expert guidance across quantitative methodology, project set-up, quality assurance and interpretation, delivering robust research at the speed our customers operate; thinking creatively on how to best use our platform to meet customers' needs.

  • Customers become increasingly capable and confident. Help customers get the most from Ideally and research itself, building their capability from study design through to interpreting and acting on results.

  • Research delivery gets smarter and more scalable. Find better ways to deliver research, using AI, automation and streamlined workflows to reduce repetitive work and create more space for high-value thinking.

  • Research expertise helps grow our US business. Bring research credibility into relevant sales conversations, help customers understand what's possible with Ideally, and share your expertise across the business. Feed customer insights and market needs into how we continue improving our research capabilities, platform and US offering.

What you’ll bring
You'll be an experienced, commercially minded market researcher who combines strong quantitative expertise with the ability to build customer relationships, communicate insights and solve real business problems. You're equally comfortable advising sophisticated insights teams and helping customers who are newer to research, and you're excited by the opportunity to build in a fast-moving, technology-led environment. This will likely look like:

  • 7+ years of market research experience, ideally including agency or other fast-paced, customer-facing research environments where you've developed strong commercial awareness.

  • Strong customer relationship skills. You can get underneath a brief, understand what a customer is really trying to achieve and provide clear, credible advice that connects research to commercial outcomes.

  • Strong quantitative research expertise, across survey design, execution, quality assurance, data interpretation and communicating insights. Qualitative experience is a bonus.

  • Commercial and analytical thinking. You can apply sound research methodology to real-world business problems, turning complex findings into clear, actionable insights that inform decisions.

  • The judgement to balance rigour with pace, maintaining a high bar for research quality without pursuing methodological perfection at the expense of progress or customer outcomes.

  • Adaptability and curiosity. You're comfortable with ambiguity, excited by AI and automation, and open to challenging traditional approaches as technology and customer needs evolve.

  • A collaborative, low-ego approach. You enjoy getting into problems with customers and colleagues, sharing expertise and working across teams to deliver better outcomes.

  • Initiative and independent ownership. You're resourceful, proactive and comfortable making decisions, figuring things out and moving work forward without needing everything perfectly defined first, while knowing when to seek input or support.

Where you’ll work
You’ll be based in our New York office. We’re office-primary because we value the connection, collaboration and creativity that comes from working together, balanced with flexibility and autonomy. Typically, the team works remotely two days per week, with anchor office days and further flexibility when needed. We also focus on impact, not hours, and trust you to manage your time, energy and workload in a way that makes sense for you.

Some of the things we offer

  • Competitive salary and ESOP; have a stake in the company you’re helping build

  • A connected global team, including ThinkFest (our annual company-wide offsite in New Zealand)

  • Grow your research career at the intersection of insights, AI and product, with exposure to new ways of delivering research at scale

  • Growth through working with talented peers, stretch opportunities and scope to expand your impact as Ideally grows

  • Hybrid working and autonomy, with a focus on impact rather than hours

  • Paid parental leave, fertility support schemes and wellbeing resources

The perks matter, but we know they’re not the only reason our team join. The bigger opportunity is to work alongside high-calibre people, help shape the future of research and have meaningful ownership and impact as Ideally grows.
